Q. How do I choose the perfect makeup artist for me?
A. Review our guide Choosing the Perfect Makeup Artist .
Q: Do you offer hairstyling?
A. Flawless Cosmetic Design only specializes in makeup artistry. However, I do partner with several professional hairstylists who, if needed, provide their services on-location. If you would like a list of recommendations, I am happy to provide them upon booking my services.
Q. Do you provide wedding day makeup services on-location?
A. Yes, Flawless Cosmetic Design is mobile, and can provide makeup services at your venue, hotel, or home. Affording you a luxury service in the comfort of your own space.
Q: Do you provide makeup for events other than weddings?
A. Flawless Cosmetic Design offers makeup services for a variety of events. Such as: print/commercial, engagements, proms, senior pictures, private makeup lessons, and more.
Q. Do you offer partial makeup application?
A. Flawless Cosmetic Design does not offer partial services such as eyes only or foundation only. As without doing a complete makeup application, I cannot guarantee the look will be cohesive with the look you are envisioning for your special day. The only partial service I offer is the application of false lashes.
Q. What makeup do you use?
A. Flawless Cosmetic Design uses a very wide range of professional makeup products. All of which have been tested for efficacy, longevity, sensitivity and overall performance. To list a few brands, Graftobian, Kett, Temptu (Airbrush), Nars, MAC, Channel, Tom Ford, Lancome, Clinique, Smasbox, Laura Mercier, MUFE, Bobbi Brown, BECCA, LORAC, Urban Decay and many more. No true professional makeup artist carries only one line of makeup in their kit.
Q. Can I use my own makeup?
A. Yes. However, I cannot guarantee all of the following: How it will photograph in all the various settings. For example, outdoor direct sunlight, indoor with flash, in the dim light of your venue, or on video. If it will flash back in photography. If your makeup is formulated for the highly pixelated lenses of today’s cameras and video. If your foundation is the correct shade or formula for your skin type. How long your makeup will last, depending on the formulas. All of which I can guarantee with the professional tried and tested products I have in my kit.
Q. Do you offer Airbrush makeup application?
A. Yes, I offer both Traditional and Airbrush makeup applications. A detailed description on the benefits of airbrush can be found on our Services page.
Q. Do you offer a bridal preview?
A. Previews are required for all brides. Arriving at the perfect look for your wedding day is a detailed 90 minutes to 2-hour appointment. One that would be stressful for all involved if the preview were not scheduled, and if there were to be any miscommunication on the day about the look you are wanting to achieve.
Q. When should I schedule my preview?
A. Given that all my clients are destination brides, when to schedule a preview depends on several factors. 1) When and how many times will you be in the area. 2) How far are you travelling from 3) Can you schedule a trip specifically for your preview 4) Will you need to try and schedule the preview around other appointments, such as meeting with your photographer, florist, venue etc.
With all these variables, my greatest recommendation is to allow yourself plenty of time and multiple date options if possible. As there are often unforeseen circumstances that can arise, warranting the need to re-schedule.
Q. Do I come to you for a preview?
A. Yes, all previews are done in my professional studio. In the event a client wishes for me to travel on location for their preview, this is booked based on availability and includes a travel fee + half day to full day service rate to close my studio. Depending on how far away your location is.
Q. Can my mother/future mother in law or any other attendee have a preview?
A. Anyone can have a preview. As a matter of fact, I very often do previews for the mother and or future mother in law, as they quite often have been in multiple weddings where they have been displeased with their makeup. Reflections I quite often hear are: "I felt way over made up", "I did not look like myself" or "I had to return to my room and remove the makeup". All of this leaving them to feel apprehensive about committing to day-of makeup. With extensive training in the application of mature makeup, it is always a wonderful feeling for me to put their minds at ease and provide a perfectly polished version of themselves
Q. What do you require to secure an event date?
A. All services are booked on a first come, first serve basis. In order to secure your date, I require a signed services agreement, and a 50% deposit of the full agreement amount. Your date will be reserved upon receipt of both the agreement and deposit. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date or service.
Q. Do you offer discounted packages?
A. No, I do not offer discounted packages, given that my services are in very high demand, I receive multiple inquires for the same wedding dates, and I typically book anywhere from 12 to 24 months in advance. All of which leads me to sadly turn away many clients due to non-availability. I do however offer mid-week + non-season rates upon request. Non-season would be from November through April.
Q. My wedding/event is over a year away, when should I consider booking your services?
A. I am currently booking up to 2 years in advance, and therefore encourage serious inquires to secure their dates early. As I am a pro-freelance makeup artist, and when I am booked. I am booked.
Q. Why do I need to hire a professional makeup artist for my wedding or special event?
A. Very good question. You are hiring a professional photographer to take pictures of your wedding day. These pictures will tell the story of that day. They will be images you will be looking at for many years to come. You do not want to have any regrets. On the technical end of things, a skilled seasoned professional makeup artist has knowledge of lighting, what the appropriate makeup is for the time of day your wedding will be, proper application, and technique for a flawless appearance in both photographs and on video. Professional products are guaranteed to last all day and all night. Proper application for your unique facial architecture, so as to enhance your natural beauty and have you looking your absolute best in those photos and on video.
Q. Can you do large bridal parties?
A. Yes, absolutely. Depending on the time of your ceremony, I work parties of up to 12 alone, and do so frequently. For larger parties, I collaborate with several of my own trusted colleagues, or a salon of your choosing.
Q. How long does it take you to do everyone’s makeup?
A. I schedule an hour for the bride and 30 minutes per person thereafter.
Q. Which is done first, hair or makeup?
A. Hair is scheduled before makeup.
Q. Do you help to make out the makeup timeline for the wedding day?
A. Definitely. Having your day be a seamless experience is my overarching goal. I make every effort to ensure that you have very little to think about with regards to the schedule of services on your wedding day. Upon learning what time you wish to be complete with makeup, I create a timeline to reflect that ready by time. The timeline will then be forwarded to you in order to assign appointment times to each of the clients receiving makeup with me. This will ensure that everyone knows where to be and when. Allowing for an easy transition from hair to makeup, and ultimately having you, our bride, ready for your next step. First look, pre-ceremony photos or right on to the ceremony.
Q. What do you need for set up on the wedding day?
A. The only two things I need for set up are some direct day light and adequate space. I come fully self-contained. With pro-lighting, folding tables and pro-director- chair. It is my goal for you to have little to nothing to worry about on the day.
Q. Do you stay for touch ups.
A. For parties of 7 or more, I do require that you have me stay for a minimum of 30 minutes for touch ups. For larger parties, it is my recommendation to schedule an hour for touch ups, should time permit. This is necessary, as all ladies who had their makeup done early will have eaten, brushed their teeth and will need their lipstick reapplied before photos. From there, I advise all ladies receiving makeup with me to have a favorite lipstick + powder compact for touch up’s throughout the rest of the evening.
In the event you wish for me to stay for a longer period to offer touch-ups, for example, after first look, pictures and right up to the ceremony, this service is booked in advance, depending on my availability, and is billed at the hourly rate listed in the Rates section of my website.
Q. Can you leave and come back for touch ups.
A. No. Intermittent services are not provided.
Q. Do you provide services for same-sex/LGBT weddings?
A. Absolutely, I pride myself in being dedicated to providing same sex/ LGBT wedding couples who seek to affirm their life-long commitments to each other through commitment ceremonies, civil unions, domestic partnerships, civil marriage and other alternative weddings, my luxury services, and do so with dignity and respect.
